Sections 2, 5 and 6 of the Law on Identity Documents stipulate that identity documents in Latvia are an identity card or eID card and passport, as well as a residence permit.
Since 2012, residence permits have been issued in the form of an identity card and contain biometric data. This means that a residence permit can be presented together with the Covid-19 certificate as an identity document.
We remind you that when traveling, the residence permit is NOT EQUAL to your passport or identity card or eID card, and it is NOT possible to use it as a travel document!
