No 2023. gada 1. janvāra eID karte būs obligāts personu apliecinošs dokuments, tomēr tas neattiecas uz cilvēkiem virs darbspējas vecuma. Pensionāriem pārejas periods, līdz kuram jānoformē eID karte noteikts līdz 2030. gada 31. decembrim.
